The Taurus Personality

Evolved: Taurus is noted for stability. She is steadfast even when faced with adversity. She is quietly persistent when dealing with problems and refuses to be hurried or pushed, or frightened into anything she knows is not right for her. Taurus knows the value of proportion, routine, and regularity. She understands method and order and feels best in a routine life with few surprises. Taurus is a builder, a producer, but not usually from her own original ideas. Instead, she takes innovative and pioneering ideas of others, perhaps an Aries, and makes them work.

Family and home are important to Taurus. She thrives best when she receives love and support. She generally avoids being in debt and will be careful with money. Taurus is also very good with handling other people’s money, and personal affairs. She is a good trustee or guardian. Trust is sacred to her and she will go out of her way to live up to the trust that others place in her. Taurus is well suited for public office and is a capable leader if she has support from her staff and advisors. But she prefers a second-in-command position. Obedience is easy for Taurus if treated fairly, but she becomes stubborn when nagged.

Taurus has a sense of humor and, like Ferdinand the Bull, prefers to sniff the flowers and enjoy the delights of life rather than fight battles and conquer matadors. Taurus can enjoy a joke on herself as much as one on others. Although she can be stubborn and temperamental when she feels put upon or nagged, generally Taurus is genial, friendly, and a joy to be around.

Base: This type is greedy. She gathers things around her and guards them like a dragon on her treasure. She is self-centered and unable to see anyone else’s point of view. Not in the innocent way of Aries, but in a greedy, fearful way. The steadfastness in the evolved type transforms itself into pig-headed stubbornness. Tranquility and restfulness are transformed into laziness and sloppy behavior. The Base type digs her heels in and refuses change. She is overly cautious and exasperating in her obstinacy. Temper quickly turns into fury and stolidness.

Both Types: Both types of Taurus are steadfast and loyal in love and friendship. They will be remain loyal even when rebuked or abandoned. They are earthy and sensual and thrive on physical affection. A Taurus mother takes delight in caring for her offspring. She will fuss over, supervise, correct, and patiently teach her children. Taurus fathers take great pride in their children and generally like to spend time with them.
Taurus is not religious, but once a faith is adopted, she will stick with it. Taurus is contemplative. She will take her time telling a story. If a Taurus is a writer, her works will usually stand the test of time and will be as delightful a hundred years after it was written as it was when new.

Anything Taurus builds will be solid and well proportioned. In life, she has a live-and-let-live attitude. She has a talent for seeing the true characteristics and motives of others. Shakespeare was a Taurean and his line “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” sums up a Taurus attitude about life. Shakespeare described many Taurus in his writings, Kent in King Lear and Falstaff may be the most descriptive. The Taurus usually has a strong voice and singing will be among her talents.
