Evolved: Cancer is adaptable but tenacious. She has patience that would try a cat. Just as the moon continues its never ending cycle of constant and reliable phases, Cancer is constant. Tenacity is a key word for Cancer. She holds tightly to anything she latches on to.
She is the master of many moods. She is intuitive and not only feels her own emotions, but those of others as well. Sometimes she has trouble distinguishing her own feelings from those of others. She has an excellent memory and history is important to her, especially family history. She makes a good teacher and instructs with flair and drama. Cancer makes an excellent public speaker because she can weave a story in such intricate and colorful styles that she enraptures her audience.
Cancer is affectionate and has a deep desire to nurture. She holds on to relationships even more than Taurus, and time, distance, or absence does not lessen her feeling of connection to another. She is also sentimental and will collect mounds of memorabilia throughout life.
What irritates her the most is unjust criticism and discipline. Once crossed, she never forgets. But when treated fairly, she is loving, loyal, and caring. Often shy, she has difficulty expressing the depth of her feelings to others for she is afraid of criticism.
Base: She is a slave instead of master of her emotions. She indulges in drippy sentiment, sensationalism, and exaggeration. She has a sense of power but is unable to express it. She has an exalted sense of self and is at the same time shy and retiring. She will sometimes hide out for weeks, not seeing anyone, and indulging herself in morbidity and depression. Both: Spiritually, both types of Cancers are inspired by the teachings of the ancient prophets and philosophers. She clings to her religious philosophy and feels it deeply. She prefers simple religions without complex doctrines and rituals.
Gardening is a healing art for Cancer. She seems to possess a magic that transforms ordinary plants into extraordinary.
