In progressed astrology, the ascendant shows the way you integrate your ego and your outer world. It is how you react to the world and its events.
When a progressed planet crosses the natal ascendant or the progressed ascendant comes close to a natal planet, you will have a year in which the way you view the world and its affect on you is radically changed. You rethink your position in the world, you reevaluate your principles and your reactions to the world around you. The nature of the planet or sign on the ascendant will determine the nature of these changes.
THE IC (FOURTH CUSP) IN PROGRESSIONS
This cusp symbolizes your inner self, your base and your private, personal feelings and life. It is also your home and immediate environment, that which you consider private and personal. It is also past lives and karmic ties to those in your life now. Progressed planets crossing natal IC or Progressed IC coming close to natal planets will cause a reevaluation of where you are coming from, your sense of personal self and home. This will sometimes cause conflicts with your MC that focusses on where you are going and what you will become outwardly. Look to the nature of planets and signs for indications about how these things will manifest.
THE DESCENDANT IN PROGRESSIONS
The seventh cusp symbolizes how we integrate with our significant others. This cusp deals with close relationships and partnerships with those who are not in our biological or adopted family. When progressed planets cross the natal descendant or the progressed descendant comes close to natal planets, expect a reevaluation and changes in how we experience relationships and partners, especially marriage partners. There may be a change in partners or a change in how you relate to the significant other in your life. Look to the nature of signs and planets to determine how this will manifest.
